Forest Trails & Nature Exploration

Beaver Lodge Forest Lands — Friday, October 16, 2026

About This Adventure

This week, CR-2 will begin its Junior Hikers adventures in the Beaver Lodge Forest Lands, exploring a network of forest trails right in Campbell River.

Our Junior Hikers will travel through the forest while getting comfortable hiking together as a crew, learning our trail routines, practising outdoor awareness and beginning to build confidence navigating natural environments.

Unlike an adventure built around reaching one specific destination, Beaver Lodge gives our Adventure Team flexibility to choose a route suited to the crew’s pace and abilities. We’ll use the afternoon to explore the trail network, observe the changing forest around us, and introduce the skills and responsible recreation practices we’ll carry into future Junior Hikers adventures.

Our exact route and distance will be adjusted based on available adventure time, weather and trail conditions, and the needs and abilities of the crew.

What to Bring

Please ensure your Junior Hiker arrives prepared for an afternoon outdoors. Campbell River weather can change quickly, and our adventures will continue in a variety of conditions when it is safe to do so.

🥾 Hiking or trail footwear — comfortable, closed-toe footwear with good traction
🎒 Small backpack — something your Junior Hiker can comfortably carry themselves
💧 Water bottle — filled and ready for the adventure
🍎 Snack — enough for an active afternoon outdoors
🌧️ Waterproof rain jacket — please come prepared even when rain isn’t expected
🧥 Warm layer — fleece, sweater or similar layer appropriate for the day’s conditions
🧢 Weather-appropriate extras — toque/gloves on colder days or a sun hat when appropriate
👕 Comfortable outdoor clothing — clothing that can handle trails, mud and changing weather

Please label personal items with your child’s name whenever possible.

Adventure Ready: Please check the weather before your Junior Hiker’s adventure and pack accordingly. We recommend dressing in layers so clothing can be adjusted as conditions change throughout the afternoon.

🌿 Nature Discovery — slowing down to observe plants, trees, wildlife signs and seasonal changes throughout the forest

Planned Adventure Area

Our primary adventure area will be within the Beaver Lodge Forest Lands trail network in Campbell River, where the crew will explore a selection of forest trails appropriate for the time available and the group’s pace.

Rather than following one fixed route, our Adventure Team may use different trail connections throughout the forest to create an engaging adventure while keeping the distance appropriate for the crew.

The exact route and distance may be adjusted based on available adventure time, weather, trail conditions, and the needs and abilities of the crew.

Throughout the adventure, Junior Hikers will practise staying together as a group, following established trails and respecting the forest environment.

Adventure Map

Please review the map below to become familiar with the Beaver Lodge Forest Lands and surrounding trail network.

Our planned adventure will take place within this area; however, the exact route may vary depending on weather, trail conditions, available adventure time and the needs of the crew.
