At Coastal Mountain Adventures, responsible exploration is part of every experience. We encourage practices that help protect Vancouver Island’s forests, coastlines, wildlife, and trails so these places can be enjoyed for generations to come.
THE SEVEN PRINCIPLES
1. PLAN AHEAD AND PREPARE
Know the route, conditions, weather, and regulations before heading out. Proper preparation helps keep both guests and the environment safe.
2. TRAVEL AND CAMP ON DURABLE SURFACES
Stay on established trails and durable surfaces wherever possible to reduce damage to vegetation and sensitive areas.
4. LEAVE WHAT YOU FIND
Leave rocks, plants, cultural features, and natural objects where they belong so others can experience them too.
3. DISPOSE OF WASTE PROPERLY
Pack out what you bring in. Garbage, food waste, and other materials should never be left behind.
5. MINIMIZE CAMPFIRE IMPACTS
Where fires are permitted, follow local restrictions and use established fire areas responsibly. Ensure fires are completely extinguished before leaving.
6. RESPECT WILDLIFE
Observe wildlife from a safe distance, never feed animals, and avoid disturbing their natural behaviour or habitat.
7. BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS
Respect other trail users, nearby communities, and the shared experience of being outdoors.
